Clarke College's Alexandra Arasmith, of Lisle, Ill., and DeMonte Bynum, of Milwaukee, Wis., were named the Crusaders' top senior female and male Athlete of the Year, respectively, at the college's annual awards ceremony, held on Sunday, May 4.

Clarke Athletic Director Curt Long and members of the college's coaching staff acknowledged the outstanding individual and team performances from the 2007-08 season.

Diana Baumann, of Platteville, Wis., was cited as the recipient of the college's Freshman Female Athlete of the Year Award, while Patrick Schramka, of Madison, Wis., was presented with the college's Freshman Male Athlete of the Year Award.

Arasmith was a member of Coach Sean Esterhuizen's soccer team that finished second in the Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament last fall and was 12-5-2 overall. She was voted team Most Valuable Player for the second straight year and was named a first-team All-Conference selection. Bynum was a member of Coach Jon Davison's men's basketball team. He earned second-team NAIA All-American honors and was named the Midwest Collegiate Conference Player of the Year after leading the league in scoring, assists and steals. Bynum finished his career as the school's second all-time leading scorer with 1,740 points. He set numerous single-season and career marks.

Baumann was a member of Coach Adam Hinders' track team and Coach Rick Arrington's tennis team. She was an NAIA national qualifier in pole vault for both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Baumann placed ninth at the indoor nationals and 12th at outdoor nationals. She was the MCC indoor and outdoor champion.

Schramka was a member of Coach Coach Rick Arrington's tennis team. He finished 6-3 in singles play this season, including a 5-2 record at No. 1 singles.
