The Clarke College women's track and field team finished fourth overall in the seven-team 2008 Midwest Collegiate Conference championships which concluded Friday, May 2, at the Loras College Rock Bowl Stadium.

On Friday's final day of competiton, Clarke sophomore Samantha Leslie, of DeWitt, Iowa, won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:28.12, while junior Emily Brown, of Delano, Calif., won the hammer throw with a distance of 163-01.

Clarke's 4x100 meter relay team of Diana Baumann (Fr., Platteville, Wis.), Carley Freund (Fr., Crystal Lake, Ill.), Leslie and Ariela Duran (So., San Juan, Puerto Rico) finished second with at ime of 51.66.

Clarke also took second in the women's 4x400 meter relay. Freund, Duran, Callie Cram (Jr., McMinnville-Eugene, Ore.) and Leslie finished with a time of 4:14.77.

Mount Mercy College and Grand View College each tallied 178 points and shared the conference title.

Clarke's men's team finished sixth overall.

On Friday, Clarke freshman Trent Henry, of Rockford, Ill., finished second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.24.

Clarke's 4x400 meter relay team of Henry, Jason Fuller (Sr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa), Dustin Brown (Jr., Bellevue, Iowa), and Kraig Moore (So., Kennewick, Wash.) placed second with a time of 3:28.46.

St. Ambrose claimed the men's team title.
