Clarke University's women's basketball team is off to its best start since Don Adams has been at the helm of squad. Adams in his third season as head coach has seen his Crusaders win three of their first four as they look ahead for the first home matchup of the season.
The Crusaders earned their third win of the season on Saturday, defeating Marian University 77-55 at the Mount Mercy Classic in Cedar Rapids. Offensively, Clarke had three players reach double figures in points. Katelyn Hoppman (18) led Clarke while Savannah Shepler (14) and Anna Hahn (10) followed her up. Hoppman also had three blocks.
Hahn and Shepler along with Brianne Boals, Molly Kleppin, and Kelsey Ernst grabbed four rebounds apiece. Amanda Hamilton added six assists for the squad.
As a team, the Crusaders had a very strong first half, outscoring the Knights 39-19. In the game, Clarke sunk 20 free throws.
Shepler was a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point range.
