Coach Dan Spain's Clarke University baseball team split a pair of games with St. Xavier University Thursday afternoon at the Russ Matt Invitational in Auburndale, Florida.

Winning pitcher Roman Lorentz (SR, Aloha, Ore.) struck out nine in five innings of mound duty and Anthony Razo (JR, Long Beach, Calif.) went 3-for-4 at the plate and had a stolen base to help lead Clarke to a 7-4 win in Game 1. Brett LaMere (JR, Capron, Ill.) had two hits, a double and a triple, in three at-bats, while Peter Meitzler (FR, Crystal Lake, Ill.) was 1-for-1 with a home run.
Jordan Hohensee (SR, Brooklyn, Iowa) pitched one inning, fanning two batters and picking up the save.
St. Xavier took the nightcap, 12-2.
Clarke, 8-9, will meet Purdue North Central at 9 a.m. tomorrow in Winter Haven, Florida.
