Katie Hemesath, of Dubuque, Iowa, will compete in the 29th annual NAIA Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The event, hosted by UW-Parkside, will be contested at Dr. Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course.
Hemesath qualified for the national championship by placing second individually at the Midwest Collegiate Conference Cross Country Championship, held on Nov. 8 in Des Moines, Iowa. The product of Dubuque Wahlert Catholic High School finished the 5K race at Ewing Park with a time of 20:02.
The women's 5K national championship race, which will begin at 10:30 a.m., will feature 32 teams and 112 individual qualifiers.
Cedarville (Ohio) held the top spot in nine of the 11 Coaches' Top 25 Polls this season and is the favorite to capture the team title. Simon Fraser (B.C.) has claimed the last five championships.
