The Clarke College women's basketball team came up short Tuesday night against Illinois Institute of Technology in the second game of the Clarke Tournament at the Robert and Ruth Kehl Center. Clarke will now face UW-Platteville at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the tournament's consolation game, while IIT will meet Mount Mercy College at 5 p.m. Wednesday for the tournament championship.

IIT (4-8) went on a 9-0 run in the final 1:41 of the opening half to take a 38-29 advantage at the break. The Scarlet Hawks built the lead to 16 points with just under nine minutes to play in the contest and Clarke could get no closer than nine down the stretch.

Jessican Nagarian led IIT with 16 points.

Clarke (1-11) was led by Joquetta Rolle, who had 16 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Laura Gaylord and Michelle Jamison each chipped in 11 points for the Crusaders.

Jackie Puschkar grabbed 12 rebounds for IIT, which owned a 46-36 advantage on boards.

Clarke shot 28.4 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from the line. IIT shot 55.8 percent from the field, including a 60 percent (6-10) showing from three-point range.

Mount Mercy posted a 79-64 win over UW-Platteville in Tuesday's tournament opener.

Mount Mercy's Heather Bachman and UW-Platteville's Briana Klass shared game scoring honors with 18 points.
