Jason Kroese (Sr., Spirit Lake, Iowa) went 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored and Chris Brewer (Fr., Sacramento, Calif.) struck out five and walked two in leveling his record at 1-1 Friday as Clarke College defeated Iowa Wesleyan College 9-7 in a Midwest Collegiate Conference matchup at A.J. Spiegel Park in Peosta.

Clarke (15-23, 7-8 MCC) jumped to a 4-0 lead after one inning of play. Michael Jimenez opened the scoring with an RBI single. Dan Spain plated two runs with a single, and Nick Bowles was credited with an RBI on a bases loaded walk.

Coach Chad Harris' Crusaders extended the lead to 8-2 with three runs in the fifth. Krose had an RBI single and J.D. Judd added a two-run single in the inning.

Iowa Wesleyan (23-18, 8-7 MCC) scored two runs in both the seventh and eighth innings, and added a single run in the ninth.

Justin Hass recorded the last two outs for Clarke to pick up his second save.

Jimenez was 3-for-5 with and RBI and Spain also went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Clarke will play a single game tomorrow at St. Ambrose University at 11 a.m. The two squads are scheduled to play a twin bill in Davenport at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
