Clarke College senior
Emily Brown, of Delano, Calif., was named the Midwest Collegiate Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Year for her performance Thursday and Friday at the 2009 MCC Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Dubuque. Brown, who won the event's discus competition on Thursday, added an MCC title in the hammer throw on Friday.

Adam Hinders' women's team finished third in the seven-team field, while Clarke's men's team placed sixth.
Brown, a three-time NAIA All-American, set a new conference record in Friday's hammer throw competition with a throw of 53.81 meters.
Grand View claimed the women's team title with 268 points. The Vikings were followed by St. Ambrose (169), Clarke (130), Mount Mercy (129), Ashford (50), William Penn (37) and Iowa Wesleyan (37).
In men's competition on Friday, Clarke freshman
Isaac Mase, of Kapsabet, Kenya, won the steeplechase with a time of 10:12.68, while sophomore Russ ReVoir, of Waukon, Iowa, won the high jump competition with a clearance of 1.96 meters.
Grand View took the men's title with 236 points. The Vikings were followed by St. Ambrose (194), William Penn (119), Mount Mercy (97), Ashford (84), Clarke (58) and Iowa Wesleyan (17).
