Two members of Coach Liz Garthright's Clarke College softball team have been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII Softball Team, as selected by members of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Colleen Dansart and Nicky Newhoff were among a total of 33 student-athletes to be cited as either first, second or third-team Academic All-District  selections.

Dansart and Newhoff were both third-team selections.

Dansart, a junior first baseman from Oak Lawn, Ill., carries a 3.71 grade point average in biology.

Newhoff, a sophomore pitcher from Cedar Falls, Iowa, sports a 3.94 GPA in nursing.

District VII consists of eight states and three Canadian provinces.

To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.30 grade point average, must have completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution, and must have reached sophomore athletic eligibility.

Student-athletes were nominated by their college's respective sports information directors.
