Clarke College moved into second place in the Midwest Collegiate Conference women' soccer standings Saturday with a 2-1 road win over Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. Clarke freshman
Bekah Willich, of Davenport, Iowa scored the game-winning goal for the Crusaders, who improved to 6-4-3 overall and 4-1-1 in league play.
Grand View, which entered the contest unbeaten in four conference games, slipped to 6-8-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the MCC.
Clarke grabbed a 1-0 lead at 6:41 when
Morgan Sullivan scored on a feed from
Georgina Reed. Grand View evened the score with goal at 38:05 and the score remained deadlocked until Willich netted what turned out to be the game-winning goal at 47:18 on an assist from
Lindy Stauffer.
Grand View took the men's matchup 5-1.
Clarke will return to actoin on Wednesday when the Crusaders play at Iowa Wesleyan.
