Clarke College's 2009 men's soccer season ended with a shootout Sunday afternoon in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Clarke and Mount Mercy College battled to a 3-3 two overtime tie in the Midwest Collegiate Conference first round game before the Mustangs prevailed 6-5 in the shootout.
 
Mount Mercy (8-6-5) led 1-0 at halftime and extended the lead to 3-0 before Coach Sean Esterhuizen's Crusaders rallied with three second half goals to send the contest into overtime.
 
Kraig Moore made it 3-1 on a penalty kick goal at the 56-minute mark. Fredrik Rost scored on an assist from Kirek Baran 18 minutes later to cut the gap to 3-2, and Matthew Carlson's goal at the 83-minute mark on a feed from Phillip Flores ended the scoring.
 
Clarke finished the season with a 6-9-3 mark.
