Clarke College senior
Joquetta Rolle grabbed a school-record 26 rebounds Wednesday night in the Crusaders' 76-51 season-opening home loss to Robert Morris University of Chicago, Illinois. Clarke raced to a 10-0 lead and led 30-25 at the break, but the visiting Eagles used a strong second half to come away with the win.
Rolle, a 5-7 forward from Cocoa, Fla., ranked second nationally in rebounding last winter, averaging just under 13 boards per game. She broke the previous mark of 23 rebounds set by DeAnn Trapp on Jan. 9, 1999 against Elmhurst College.
Aubrey Sparrey led Robert Morris (1-0) with 17 points.
Clarke outrebounded Robert Morris, 49-35.
Clarke will return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 11, when the Crusaders play at Cardinal Stritch University.
