A 20-4 second half scoring spurt lifted UW-Parkside to a 73-63 non-conference home win over Clarke College Thursday night in Somers, Wisconsin. Grant Johnson scored 10 of his game-high 23 points during the run, which turned a four-point deficit into a 12-point lead for the Rangers, who improved to 5-4 with the victory.
UW-Parkside led 35-31 at intermission, but Clarke forged a 47-43 lead with 14:04 remaining on a
Justin Heng three-point field goal. That's when the Rangers went on a 20-4 run. Sam Katula's lay-up with 6:30 remaining capped off the rally. Clarke could get no closer than seven points down the stretch.
Jeremy Saffold and Sam Kotula added 17 and 12 points, respectively, for UW-Parkside.
UW-Parkside won the rebounding battle.
Travis Ferrell led Clarke in rebounding with eight, while Johnson claimed game rebounding honors with nine for Parkside.
Parkside shot 50.9 percent from the field, while the visiting Crusaders manged to shoot just 38.5 percent.
Clarke will play at California State University-Maritime on Saturday and at Pacific Union College on Sunday.
