12.16.2009 - [Women's Basketball]

Clarke College Head Women's Basketball Coach Zareth Gray announced today that Candis Kertson, a member of Coach Robert Kimble's Dubuque Senior High School girls' basketball team, will enroll at Clarke next fall and join the Crusaders' basketball program. Kertson signed a letter of intent Wednesday at Senior.

"We are excited about adding Candis to our Crusader family," said Gray. "Candis is an athlete that has the potential to have a great college career. We look forward to having her as a member of our Clarke program."

A 5-10 guard/forward, Kertson has twice earned Mississippi Valley Conference second-team All-Conference honors and is a two-time Telegraph Herald second-team All-Area pick. She was a 2007-08 All-District selection and has twice garnered TH Athlete of the Week honors.

Kertson has picked up three varsity letters in both basketball and track at Senior. She also lettered one year in volleyball.

Candis is the daughter of Patrick and Cynthia Durden, of Dubuque.

Gray earlier announced the signings of 6-3 center Jessica Jansen, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and 5-11 guard Jenna Kotas, of Tinley Park, Illinois.
