Justin Heng scored a game-high 23 points and
Eli Fitzsimons added 19 points Sunday in Clarke's 88-79 win over Pacific Union College in Angwin, California. Heng hit 9 of 15 shots from the field, including 5 of 8 attempts from beyond the three-point arc, and grabbed six rebounds for the Crusaders, who gained a split in their California trip.
Clarke led by two at the break, 41-39, and outscored the hosts 47-40 in the final 20 minutes of play.
Clarke shot 52.5 percent from the field, while Pacific Union hit 43.1 percent of its attempts.
Pacific Union led the rebounding battle, 36-32.
Jay Wagoner led Clarke on the boards with seven rebounds.
Kenny Penn led Pacific Union (1-6) with 20 points and a game-high 16 rebounds.
Clarke will be idle until Saturday, Jan. 2, when the Crusaders host MCC rival William Penn University. The Crusaders will entertain the University of Dubuque on Monday, Jan. 4.
