Joquetta Rolle's layup at the buzzer lifted Clarke College to a 56-54 win over Spring Arbor University Saturday afternoon at the Cornerstone University Classic in Grand Rapids, Michican. Rolle, who claimed game highs in both scoring (18) and rebounding (10), scored the game-winner on an assist from
Michelle Jamison.
Casey Breitbach added 16 points and had seven assists for Coach
Zareth Gray's Crusaders, who raced to a 37-24 advantage at the break. Breitbach scored 10 of her points in the opening half.
Clarke led by five with just over a minute to play, but Tricia Seilheimer hit a three-point field goal with 1:18 to play and Melissa Tejkl's jumper in the paint evened things up with seven seconds remaining, setting up Rolle's game-winner.
Tejkl led Spring Arbor (1-12) with 17 points.
Clarke improved to 3-11 with the win. The Crusaders will play at Southwest Minnesota State University on Tuesday, Dec. 29.
