The Clarke College men's volleyball team will open its 2010 season at home on Friday, Jan. 15, when Coach Kris Dorn's squad entertains Quincy University in a non-conference matchup at the Robert and Ruth Kehl Center. The first set is scheduled for 7 p.m.
   
Dorn is in his first season at Clarke. A native of Long Island, N.Y., Dorn most recently served as the head coach of the Newport Beach Sea Hawks, a men's professional team in the American Pro Volleyball League. Prior to his involvement in the league, he coached collegiate men's and women's volleyball for 12 years, including seven at the NCAA Division I level.
 
Dorn's 21-player roster includes three seniors, 6-foot outside hitter/libero Peter Dudek, of Schaumburg, Ill., 6-5 middle hitter Ethan Holly, of Tempe, Ariz., and 6-4 opposite Bryndon Paulsen, of Roselle, Ill.; six juniors, four sophomores and eight freshmen.
 
Holly ranks second in career blocks (328) and sixth in career kills (803), while junior setter Matt Redman, of Brookfield, Wis., ranks fourth in career assists (1,772).
 
Clarke will host Graceland University in a non-conference match on Friday, Jan. 22, before opening Mid-America Men's Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference play at home against St. Ambrose University on Tuesday, Jan. 26.

Clarke finished 18-13 overall and 5-5 in conference play last year.
