Clarke College senior middle hitter
Ethan Holly, of Tempe, Ariz., had a match-high 14 kills and hit .478 Friday night to lead Coach
Kris Dorn's Crusaders to a 3-0 season-opening win over Quincy University at the Robert and Ruth Kehl Center. Holly added match highs in blocks (6) and points (19) in Clarke's 30-26, 30-15, 39-37 win.
Clarke hit .167 in the first set, .696 in set two and .286 in the deciding set.
Set three included 19 ties and seven lead changes. The Crusaders took the final set on kills by Gabehart and
Tyler Oehmen.
Peter Coley led Quincy (0-1) with 10 kills.
Clarke will return to action on Friday, Jan. 22, when the Crusaders host Graceland University. The first set is scheduled for 7 p.m.
