Clarke College Head Men's Golf Coach Jerry Hanson announced today that Seth Cory, a three-time first-team Northwest Upstate Illini Conference All-Conference performer at Lena-Winslow High School, has signed a letter of intent to enroll at the college next fall and join the Crusaders' golf program.

Cory signed a letter of intent Friday in Lena, Illinois.

"I'm excited that Seth has chosen Clarke College to further his education and golf careers," said Hanson. "His dedication to the game of golf and his academic accomplishments speak highly of his commitment. Seth will make a great addition to our program and to our student body."

Cory was a two-time unanimous all-conference golf selection for Coach Doral Reining's Panthers. This past season, Cory carried a 39-stroke average and captured medalist honors in eight team events. He carded a two-over-par 73 to win a junior tournament at Krueger Haskell Golf Course and fired a two-under-par 34 at Willow Hollow Golf Course in a match with Stockton High School. Cory finished second at regionals as a senior. He shot a personal best 67 at a team qualifying event.

Cory was a four-year member of Lena-Winslow's baseball team and a three-year participant on the basketball squad. He was a member of the varsity baseball team since his sophomore year, and as a junior he earned second-team all-conference honors as a pitcher.

A two-year member of the National Honor Society and an Illinois State Scholar, Cory ranks No. 1 academically in his senior class. Since ninth grade, Cory has been a member of the Principal's Honor Roll (all A's) and has been a recipient of the Le-Win High School Scholarship Award (all A's).

Cory was involved in numerous extracurricular activities at Lena-Winslow and will graduate with Gold Rope for having completed more than 60 hours of community service. During his high school career, he completed over 350 hours of community service. Cory was a four-year member of the student council, serving two years as class treasurer and two years as executive assistant. He served two years as vice president of the National Honor Society and was involved in Servant Leadership.

The son of Darrell and Ranee Cory, of Lena, Ill., Seth will pursue a degree in biochemistry.

Clarke is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and competes in the Midwest Collegiate Conference.
