Coach Liz Garthright's Clarke College softball team came up short in its first two games of the 2010 season. The Crusaders lost 12-2 to St. Xavier University and 5-4 to Ferrum College Sunday at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida.

Nicky Newhoff was 3-for-3 with three singles against Ferrum. Anneliese Lange was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Abby Nauman pitched five plus innings after missing last season with a shoulder injury.

Newhoff took the loss in game one.
