Clarke College swept a Midwest Collegiate Conference baseball doubleheader from Ashford University Tuesday at A.J. Spiegel Park in Peosta, Iowa. Coach Chad Harris' Crusaders improved to 11-8 overall and 2-1 in MCC play with 7-3 and 7-2 wins over Ashford (2-16, 0-5 MCC).
 
Jake Moser struck out six and allowed to hits in the opener to improve to 2-1. J.D. Judd pitched the final two innings in relief.
 
Clarke scored in each of the first four innings and led 7-0 before the Saints put two on the board in the fifth.
 
Jared Munson was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Tony Harvat had an RBI triple.
 
In the nightcap, Ryan Kelley was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and Chris Briggs had two hits in four at-bats and a pair of RBIs. Jared Krasselt went 3-for-3 at the plate, while Michael Jimenez was 1-for-3 with two RBIS and three runs scored.
 
Clarke led 2-0 after three innings and held a 4-1 advantage after five innings. Ashford pushed a run across the plate in the sixth to make it 4-2, but the Crusaders added three runs in the bottom of the inning. Jimenez plated two runs with a single up the middle.
 
Chris Brewer pitched the first five innings and improved to 2-1 with the win. Steve Mabeus pitched the final two innings for the Crusaders.
 
Clarke will play an MCC doubleheader on Wednesday at Iowa Wesleyan College. The first game of the twin bill is scheduled for 5 p.m.
