Travis Gabehart and
Alex Wilharm combined for 60 kills Friday to lead Clarke to a 3-0 win over Lindenwood University in the Crusaders' opening match at the 2010 Clarke College Tournament. Coach
Kris Dorn's squad picked up the program's school-record 19th win with a 30-26, 23-30, 30-20, 30-32, 15-13 victory.
Travis Gabehart (So., Franklin, Ind.) hit a match-high .419 and had a match-high 23 kills for the Crusaders.
Alex Wilharm (Jr., Decorah, Iowa) and
David Eck (Jr., Paddock, Wis.) added 20 and 17 kills, respectively, for Clarke, which improved to 19-8. Wilharm had a match-best 12 digs.
Jack Mitchell, J.M. Plummer and Mike Warren each had 15 kills for Lindenwood (17-11).
Clarke overcame a 12-9 deficit to win the fifth and deciding set.
Eck and
Tyler Oehmen (Fr., St. Louis, Mo.) each had five blocks for Clarke, while
Matt Redman (Jr., Brookfield, Wis.) had 68 assists.
Clarke will face Hannibal-LaGrange in Friday's 8 p.m. match.
