First-year Clarke College Assistant Baseball Coach Aaron Ciaburri will be with Gary Railcats professional baseball team as a bullpen catcher and visiting clubhouse manager this summer.

For the past two summers, Ciaburri has been a part of the Oakland County Cruisers, formally known as the Midwest Sliders of the Frontier League. Now he has made the career advancement to the Northern League.

The Gary Railcats are a highly-respected independent minor league team with an excellent winning tradition. The Railcats have won Northern League championships in 2005 and 2007 and are the only team in Northern League history to reach the Championship Series four years in a row (2005-08).

"I'm grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of the Gary Railcats organization," said Ciaburri. "This is also a great opportunity to continue to learn the game at the professional level and contribute to a first class organization."

The Northern League is the oldest and most accomplished independent professional league in the country. The Northern League has been playing ball throughout the Midwest since 1902.

"Aaron is doing a great job for our program and the experience he is gaining working with the pro guys is translating to our club," said Clarke Head Baseball Coach Chad Harris. "In trying to develop our program and move our kids to the next level, we need connections like this and Aaron landing a job in the Northern League only helps get us closer to that goal. He has earned this opportunity."
