Clarke College Head Bowling Coach Chris Uffman announced today that Andrew Ehrlich, a member of Dubuque Wahlert Catholic High School's 2010 state championship bowling team, has signed a letter of intent to enroll at the college this fall and join the Crusaders' inaugural program.
Ehrlich, the Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division co-Athlete of the Year, was a three-time state bowling tournament participant. He was a member of two state runner-up teams at Wahlert Catholic, placing sixth individually in 2009. Ehrlich finished fifth individually on the Golden Eagles' state championship team.
"Andy Ehrlich's name has been on my list from day one," said Uffman. "Now that we have made Clarke a good fit for him, our men's team is definitely shaping up. Ehrlich is another experienced, competent young bowler, adding to an already strong roster."
Ehrlich was a three-time MVC all-conference performer, twice garnering first-team all-conference laurels. He bowled a 300 game this past season and owns an 813 youth league series.
Ehrlich picked up two varsity letters in baseball, earning MVC honorable mention and Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association second-team all-district honors. He was cited as a TH second-team all-area pick and was Wahlert's co-MVP.
A member of the National Honor Society, Ehrlich earned Academic Achievement, State of Iowa Certificate of Recognition and academic all-conference honors.
Ehrlich will be joining former Wahlert teammate Zach Althaus, Dubuque Hempstead state champion Stephen Habel, Tyler Heintzelman, of Shorewood, Ill., and Jonathon Heidler, of Channahon, Ill., both products of Minooka Community High School.
Andrew is the son of Steve and Lisa Ehrlich, of Dubuque.
