Clarke College overcame a 4-0 deficit Sunday afternoon and went on to claim a 5-4 Midwest Collegiate Conference baseball win over Wiliam Penn University at A.J. Spiegel Park in Peosta, Iowa. Junior right fielder
Alex McKinlay, of Burlington, Wash., drove in three runs, including the game-winner for the Crusaders, who evened their season mark at 14-14.
William Penn (18-11, 9-4 MCC) took a 3-0 lead in the first on a three-run homer by K. Humphrey. The Statesman made it 4-0 with a run in the third.
Clarke, 4-7 in MCC play, got on the board in the fourth with a
Michael Jimenez solo home run. The Crusaders closed within one in the fifth on McKinlay's two-run double.
Dean Molitor evened the score with an RBI single in the seventh. Molitor stole second and third and scored what would be the game-winning run on a McKinlay ground out.
Sean O'Connor pitched two innings of scoreless relief to lift his record to 3-4.
Justin Haas pitched the final inning and picked up his fourth save.
Clarke will continue MCC play Tuesday with one nine-inning game at Ashford University.
