Clarke College and Viterbo University went extra innings in both ends of a Midwest Collegiate Conference baseball doubleheader Wednesday at A.J. Spiegel Park in Peosta, Iowa. Coach
Chad Harris' Crusaders overcame a 4-0 deficit to take game one 6-5 in eight innings, while Viterbo took the nine-inning nightcap 4-1.
Viterbo's Brett Moravec put th V-Hawks up 4-0 in the first with a grand slam. Clarke plated single runs in the second and fourth innings before taking a 5-4 lead with three runs in the fifth.
Chris Briggs' two-run double highlighted the inning. Viterbo made it 5-5 in the sixth.

Ryan Kelly with the game-winning run in the eighth.
J.D. Judd (1-0) pitched three scoreless innings to pick up the win.
In the nightcap, Viterbo took a 1-0 lead in the second. The Crusaders scored a run in the fourth on
Tony Harvat's sacrifice fly RBI. Viterbo scored three runs in the top of the ninth and held the Crusaders scoreless in the bottom of the inning.
Clarke starter
Chris Brewer struck out six and allowed just one run in eight innings of mound duty.
Pete Sullivan (2-5) took the loss.
Viterbo's Cole Clements, Howard Heinrich and Brett Moravec combined on a two-hitter.
Clarke is now 16-18 overall and 6-11 in MCC play. Viterbo is 22-17 overall and 12-6 in conference action.
