
Coach Chad Harris' Clarke College baseball team equaled a school a record with seven doubles in a 10-5 Midwest Collegiate Conference road win over Mount Mercy College Tuesday. Dean Molitor went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two stolen bases and Chris Briggs was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs in the Crusaders' 18-hit attack.
Jared Munson and Michael Jimenez each had three hits for Clarke.
Clarke (18-19, 7-12 MCC) plated three runs in the first inning, two of them coming off Briggs' round tripper. Mount Mercy (17-28, 10-11 MCC) scored in the bottom of the inning and took a 4-3 lead with a three-run third inning. Clarke scored in each of the final four innings.
Clarke reliever J.D. Judd pitched the final six innings to pick up the win and improve to 2-0. Judd struck out four, walked none and limited the Mustangs to just two hits. Mount Mercy's only run over the last six innings was an unearned run in the ninth.
