Clarke College junior Jessica Nessan, of Dubuque, ranked second Friday after the opening day of competition at the Midwest Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Champsionships in Des Moines, Iowa.
 
Nessan compiled 2,415 points on Friday. Rachel Luehrs, of St. Ambrose University, led the 16-team field with 2,440 points.
 
Clarke's Lauren Palmer ranks sixth with 2,023 points.
 
The competiton will conclude on Saturday at Williams Stadium on the Grand View University campus.
