
Clarke College Head Men's Golf Coach Jerry Hanson announced today that three-time Southwestern Wisconsin Conference Boys Golf Player of the Year Josh Udelhofen, of Platteville, Wis., will enroll at the college this fall and join the Crusaders' golf and bowling programs.
Udelhofen, a three-time state golf qualifier, signed his letter of intent Thursday in Platteville.
"I'm extremely excited that Josh has chosen Clarke to further his athletic and educational careers," said Hanson. "Josh has a strong work ethic and is continually trying to improve himself. His efforts have paid off both on the course and in the classroom and he will make a great addition to the Clarke College student body."
A three-time academic all-state selection and a four-time, first-team all-conference performer, Udelhofen has claimed medalist honors in every meet that Coach Dick McKichan's Platteville High School Hillmen have competed in this year, leading the team to the SWC and Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) regional title.
Udelhofen shot a school-record 10-under par 60 Wednesday at Dodge Point Country Club to lead the Hillmen to the WIAA regional championship with a school-record low team score of 295. Earlier this year, Udelhofen claimed medalist honors at the Platteville Tournament (72), Western Dubuque Tournament (70), The House of the Rock Tournament (70) and the SWC Tournament (76). The Hillmen will next compete in the sectional tournament at Trappers Turn Golf Club in Wisconsin Dells, Wis., on June 2.
Udelhofen earned all-state honorable mention honors in 2008. He was named the TH Player of the Year in 2006 and was a two-time Milwaukee State Journal honorable mention all-area selection. The two-time Platteville MVP and was named team captain following his junior year.
Udelhofen has competed in numerous junior tournaments around the state of Wisconsin the past two years. He tied for fifth last summer at the Wisconsin PGA Junior Championship at Yahara Hills Golf Course in Madison with a 74-71-145.
A member of the National Honor Society and has been a four-year member of the school honor roll, Udelhofen has been active in student council for three years and is the senior class president.
