Clarke University senior Charles Nunn had a big day Saturday afternoon in a key Midwest Collegiate Conference victory over William Penn University. Nunn recorded game-highs in scoring (19), rebounding (13) and assists (7) to lead Coach Jerry Drymon's Crusaders to an 87-75 win at the Robert and Ruth Kehl Center.
 
Clarke improved to 18-9 overall and 9-7 in MCC circles. The victory moved the Crusaders into sole possession of fourth place in the league race heading into the final week of the regular season.
 
Mike Schindel and Luke Cassedy tallied 16 and 15 points, respectively, for Clarke, while Craig Christopher chipped in 10 points.
 
Clarke shot 52.2 percent from the field and outrebounded the Statesmen, 46-35. William Penn netted 38.8 percent of its field goal attempts. 
 
Nunn was 8-of-11 from the field and 3-for-3 from the charity stripe.
 
Austin Emerson led William Penn (15-13, 10-6 MCC) with 17 points. The Statesmen also had double-figure scoring efforts from Blake Walker (13), Arman Rasul (13), Taylor Stoutner (12) and Keith Steffeck (11).
 
Clarke will wrap up a five-game home stand on Wednesday, hosting Waldorf College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. The Crusaders conclude regular-season play at AIB next Saturday.
 
In the women's contest, William Penn (10-17, 8-8 MCC) broke away from a 45-all game and outscored Clarke 20-3 down the stretch to claim a 65-48 win. Freshman Anna Hahn led Clarke (6-21, 3-13 MCC) with 19 points and seven rebounds.
