Christina Schreiber is in her first season as assistant softball coach for Clarke University.
Schreiber has had extensive coaching experience since completing her collegiate softball career at Loras College. She was a four-year starter for Loras and helped lead the Duhawks to the IIAC Conference tournament in her sophomore season.
Schreiber spent three seasons at her alma mater as an assistant at Preston High School in Preston, Iowa. She coached the Trojans to a seventh place finish at the Iowa State Softball Tournament in 2008.
Schreiber served as a graduate assistant coach at Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa from 2009-2011.
For the past three seasons, Schreiber has served as the assistant coach at Marquette Catholic High School in Bellevue, Iowa. The Mohawks completed their 2012 season with a fifth place finish at Iowa State Softball Tournament.
Schreiber earned her bachelor of arts degree from Loras in May 2009. She went on to earn a master of business administration degree from Columbia Southern University in 2011.
Schreiber currently resides in Hazel Green, Wis., with her husband, Steve.
Dubuque, Iowa, native Chelsea Bettcher is in her first year as a member of Coach Jaclyn Salzwedel's coaching staff. Bettcher is a 2005 graduate of Wahlert High School and a 2010 graduate of Clarke University.
Bettcher was a four-year starter for the Crusaders' softball program. She earned Midwest Collegiate Conference honorable mention All-Conference honors following her senior season. Bettcher earned third-team D3 Independents All-Independent honors as a sophomore, and earned NFCA Great lakes Region third-team All-Region and Northern Illinois - Iowa Conference All-Conference honors as a freshman. She was also named the recipient of Clarke's Freshman Athlete of the Year Award and was the recipient of the softball team's Top Newcomer Award as a freshman.
Bettcher was a two-time MCC academic All-conference honoree.
Bettcher currently works as a sales assistant at X-Grain Sportswear in Peosta, Iowa. She has one brother, Travis, who is a senior at Clarke and is a member of the track & field team. She currently lives in Dubuque, Iowa.
Chelsea received degrees in sports management, psychology, and business administration with an emphasis in finance. She also received a coaching endorsement.
Coach Schuchmann has once again joined the Clarke University softball program after working with Clarke University softball pitchers serving under previous Clarke University head coaches Tina Kuhle, Cara (Clark) LaPlaca (now at the University of Dayton), and Coach Liz Garthright.
Coach Schuchmann has over 28 years of experience as a head varsity high school softball coach, pitching clinician and instructor. His high school career includes seasons in four school systems including 18 seasons in the Edgewood-Colesburg County Community School System. Currently he is serving his 10th year as the West Delaware County Community School System's Varsity Softball Coach in Manchester, Iowa. He has had the opportunity to work with outstanding communities and athletes along the way having had the good fortune of seeing seven teams qualify for the Iowa High School State Tournament. The 2002 Edgewood-Colesburg team finished as the Class 1A runner up and the 2007 West Delaware team won the 2007 Class 3A state title.
