

Prior to his stint at UD, Carlson spent two years as the assistant men's soccer coach at Trinity International University, Gurnee, Ill., where he helped lead the program to two of its most successful seasons. The Trojans recorded two second-place finishes in the Chicagoland Conference, took second place in the conference tournament, obtained a No. 21 national ranking and took runner-up honors in the NAIA regional tournament.
Carlson served as the assistant men's soccer coach and recruiting coordinator for both the men's and women's soccer programs at Hope International University, Fullerton, Calif., before joining the Trinity International coaching staff. Carlson helped guide the Royals to their first regional championship in over nine years and a semi-final appearance at the National Christian College Athletic Association national tournament. He was a member of the NCCAA Western Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
Carlson attended Victor Valley College, Victorville, Calif., for two years before transferring to Hope International. At Victor Valley, the team captain an all-conference honorable mention selection helped lead the Rams to their first conference championship in 31 years. Carlson served as team captain at Hope International, leading HIU in scoring and garnering all-region honors.
Carlson is actively involved with the Dubuque Soccer Club.
Carlson received his bachelor of arts degree in general studies from Trinity International and his master of arts degree in communication from the University of Dubuque.
