Kris Dorn - Head Coach - 1st Season
Kris Dorn is in his first season as the college's head men's volleyball coach.
 
A native of Long Island, N.Y., Dorn most recently served as the head coach of the Newport Beach Sea Hawks, a men's professional team in the American Pro Volleyball League. Prior to his involvement in the league, he coached collegiate men's and women's volleyball for 12 years, including seven at the NCAA Division I level.

 

Coach K was a part of five national championship squads at California Baptist University, where he was the assistant men's and women's volleyball coach from 2004 to 2007. The CBU women won their first-ever championship during his first year (2004), and won their second consecutive NAIA crown in 2005. Dorn also received championship rings for consecutive men's NAIA national title runs in 2004, 2005 and 2006. The CBU men defeated numerous NCAA Division I/II teams in the process.

In 2002 and 2003, Dorn served as the head women's volleyball coach at Samford University. He left with the highest winning percentage by a Samford volleyball coach, and had one of the top blocking teams in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Dorn was an assistant coach at Samford in 2000 and 2001, and was the program's top recruiter.

Dorn's other NCAA Division I experience is comprised of one season (1999) as first assistant coach at Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J., and two years (1997 and 1998) as the top assistant at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.. While at Seton Hall, he coached the Cut Shot U-17 club team, which won the GEVA championship in New Jersey. At Liberty, he helped coach the Flames to the NCAA Tournament in 1997. Liberty won back-to-back Big South Conference regular-season championships in 1997 and 1998. He also founded the Liberty men's club team and coached it for two seasons.

Dorn has served as an evaluator and court coach for USA Volleyball, working specifically with the Youth National Team and USA Select Tryouts. He has also been a lead coach for Gold Medal Squared Volleyball, an elite training program featuring Olympic medalists and

championship-level college coaches. Dorn also served as director of coach and player development for the Inland Empire Volleyball Club and implemented a comprehensive developmental system of techniques and strategies for both coaches and athletes. He later coached at Non-Stop Sports Club and had similar responsibilities to his position at Inland Empire.

Dorn served as a coach of collegiate men and women's teams that have traveled to the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Brazil and East Asia, and has worked with athletic ministries such as Athletes in Action, Uncharted Waters, and SCORE International.

Dorn was a co-captain with Athletes in Action during a 1997 tour of East Asia and Thailand. On that tour, which included a match against the Thai National Team, his team went 12-3 against international competition.

Still an active player, Dorn has competed at numerous USA Volleyball National Championship

events in doubles and triples, earning tournament MVP honors in the process.

Dorn played collegiate volleyball at Taylor University, where he served as team captain before becoming the player-coach and eventually the head coach. Dorn holds the team record for most blocks in a season.

Dorn received his bachelor's degree in fine arts and psychology from Taylor University and his master's degree in kinesiology/sport management from California Baptist University. He was awarded the 2007 CBU Kinesiology Outstanding Graduate Student Award and served as an adjunct professor of kinesiology.

Coach K's wife, Jennifer (nicknamed "JP"), was a four-year starter at middle blocker for USC from 1998-2001 and was a two-time All-American and four-time All-Pac-10 selection. She was an assistant coach at Samford from 2002 to 2003 and was a volunteer assistant at CBU.

JP Dorn - Assistant Coach - 1st Season
JP Dorn has joined the men's volleyball coaching staff this season as a volunteer assistant coach.
 
Dorn was a four-year volleyball starter at middle blocker for USC from 1998 to 2001. She earned All-Pac 10 honors all four years and earned NCAA All-American honors in 2000.
 
Dorn served as a volunteer assistant volleyball coach at California Baptist University from 2004 to 2006 and was a part of back-to-back NAIA national championships. She served as the head volleyball coach of the Ventura County Volleyball Club in 2001-02, and was the assistant volleyball coach at Samford University from 2002 to 2004.
 
JP, who also serves as a volunteer assistant with Clarke's women's volleyball program, is married to Kris Dorn, Clarke' men's volleyball coach.
 
JP received her bachelor of arts degree in anthropology from the University of Southern California, and her masters of science degree in kinesiology from California Baptist University.

Kyle Hunzeker - Assistant Coach - 1st Season
Kyle Hunzeker, of Spring Grove, Minn., is in his first year as Clarke's assistant men's volleyball coach.
 
Hunzeker also serves as the assistant women's volleyball coach at Clarke. He served as vice president and player/coach for the UW-Platteville men's volleyball club in 2007-08. During the 2008-09 season, Hunzeker served a the program's president while also being an active player.
 
Kyle is pursuing his bachelor of science degree in business administration from UW-Platteville.
