Crusaders Baseball Philosophy

The Clarke University Crusader baseball team is a member of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The Crusaders are a member of the Midwest Classic Conference, which consists of schools in Iowa and Wisconsin. The Crusaders' baseball team routinely takes a spring trip to the southern United States in February or March in order to get games in early and to prepare for conference play.

The Crusader baseball philosophy is one which focuses on hard work and never settling for second best. Whether we are talking about baseball, academics, or anything else that you put your mind to, we believe in doing it right the first time and doing it the best that it can be done. We believe in pushing your teammates to be better, picking them up when they are down, and always believing in yourself. True character is revealed in times of adversity. Anyone can have a good attitude when times are good. The question is how does one react when times are tough?

Our coaching philosophy revolves around the basic fundamentals. Take care of the little things and the big picture will take care of itself. Whether it is making a good relay to the cutoff man, being where you are supposed to be on a bunt coverage, or getting a sacrifice bunt down to move the winning run into scoring position, it's the things that you do not read in a box score which ultimately determine the outcome of a game.
