Champs Meeting Minutes

October 21, 2007

Call to order: 7:02 pm

I. Positive Cheering

a. Keep with core values of NAIA

b. Cheer for you team and players; don't put down other team

c. Emphasize positive actions, not errors or mistakes made by others

II. Team Service Projects

a. Make sure it is an off campus project

b. Use your own ideas or join in to help an outside organization

c. Make sure you get approval from Liz Garthwright

III. Mascot Update

a. Unveil mascot before Thanksgiving

b. Cheer/dance team holding try-outs for mascot

c. Talk to Julie Weires if interested

IV. Books from NCAA Grant

a. Now available

b. Trying to get a special section in the library for them

V. Banner

a. Still in the works

b. Will be on display in the gym: Champs Student-Athlete Leadership Group with NAIA core values; speaking with Mike Cyze for approval

VI. Activities

a. Thanks for Adopt-A-Highway; record turnout

b. Pizza Party/ Pack the Place

c. Kid's Camp close to Christmas; parents can drop kids off; each team has a station with activities; mascot pictures/autographs?

VII. Student Athlete of the Month

a. Erin Schieber- Women's Volleyball

IX. Concern for Class Schedules conflicting with games/practice times

a. Hot topic with administration

b. Something we can do: write letters, email, go to meeting with administration, form a committee
