High School: Was a 16-time varsity letterwinner in cross country, basketball, golf, and soccer. all-conference in golf as a junior and was the sectional medalist and state participant as a senior and was captain both years. All-Conference in basketball as a senior and was co-captain as a junior and senior. Ran in the state cross country meet as a junior and senior. Received a United States Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Award,United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award, and was named to the Des Moines Register 2008 Academic All-State Team. Co-Valedictorain, President of National Honor Society, and active in Quiz Bowl and Speech.
