Clarke University freshman Grace Gordon finished ninth individually Saturday to lead the Crusaders to a fifth-place finish in the eight-team field. Gordon finished the 5k race in a time of 20:23.04.

It didn't take long for freshman Grace Gordon to establish herself as Clarke's best runner. Even the distinctive Iowa terrain could not stop the St. Charles, Ill., native from racing out to an impressive first season as a college runner.

Katie Hemesath - Finishes Second at William Penn Invite
Clarke College sophomore Katie Hemesath, of Dubuque, Iowa, finished second at the William Penn University Cross Country Invitational this past Saturday in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Hemesath, a product of Wahlert Catholic High School, finished the race with a time of 17:01.

Clarke College freshman Katie Hemesath, of Dubuque, Iowa, placed 215th individually at the 29th annual NAIA Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  A total of 327 runners competed in the 5K national championship, which was contested at Dr. Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course.
