After finishing in a tie for second-place in the Midwest Collegiate Conference in 2011, Chad Harris' baseball squad nabbed six all-conference selections, the conference announced on Thursday.
Ashford University outscored Clarke University 12-1 over the final eight innings of play Wednesday and eliminated the Crusaders from the Midwest Collegiate Conference Baseball Tournament with a 13-5 win at A.J. Spiegel Park. Caleb Johnson and Jesse Cummings both went 4-for-5 for Coach Chad Harris' squad, which ended the 2011 campaign with a 20-20 overall record.

In a last-ditch effort to accomplish one of baseball's most celebrated single-game feats, Clarke first baseman Jesse Cummings cracked a line drive to left field. Saint Ambrose outfielder Connor Kretz raced in, dove and came up empty as the ball scooted all the way to the wall. Cummings suddenly had one thing on his mind: triple.
Clarke University's comeback effort came up just short Tuesday in a Midwest Collegiate Conference Baseball Tournament mathup at A.J. Spiegel Park in Peosta, Iowa. Grand View, the tournament's No. 2 seed, built a 4-0 lead and held off a late Clarke rally to claim a 4-3 win.
Coach Chad Harris's Clarke University baseball team will open play today at the Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament, facing Grand View University at 3:30 p.m. at A.J. Spiegel Park in Peosta, Iowa. Clarke (20-18) is seeded third in the five-team tournament, while the 23-16 Vikings enter the postseason double-elimination tournament as the No. 2 seed.






The city of Peosta, the location for Clarke home baseball games, will play host to this year's Midwest Collegiate Conference baseball tournament May 3-6 at A.J. Spiegel Park in Peosta, Iowa.

Senior Jesse Cummings turned in the game of his career on Tuesday night as Clarke routed Saint Ambrose, 13-2, in Davenport, Iowa.

Clarke Crusaders closer Sean O'Connor was named Midwest Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday for his near-perfect outing in last Wednesday's 8-6 victory over Mount Mercy in game 2 of the doubleheader.

A doubleheader sweep of Saint Ambrose on Monday catapulted coach Chad Harris and the Crusaders into second place in the MCC and guaranteed Clarke a spot in next week's MCC Tournament. The visiting Crusaders won by scores of 4-3 and 10-3 in taking both games from the Fighting Bees at Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport, Iowa.
